We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Traffic Engineer with 0 to 6 years of professional experience to join our growing traffic team. This role involves working on a variety of transportation and traffic engineering projects including traffic studies and design of traffic signals, signs, pavement markings, lighting, ITS and maintenance of traffic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving mobility and roadway safety through forward-thinking design.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the design of traffic signals, signs, pavement markings, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS), maintenance of traffic and lighting
  • Prepare reports, technical memos, and presentation materials
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards (e.g., MUTCD, AASHTO, FHWA)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including planners, engineers, and project managers
  • Conduct traffic studies, safety studies
  • Analyze and interpret traffic data (volumes, speeds, crashes, etc.)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Transportation focus preferred)
  • 0–6 years of relevant experience in traffic or transportation engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional engineering licensure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD or MicroStation, and traffic software (e.g., Synchro, SWISS, Visual)
  • Experience with traffic signal design, traffic control plans, or corridor studies
  • Familiarity with local DOT standards
